December 30, 2011
Getting ready for 2012?! I sure of heck am, especially since it's gone from:
1.Halloween
2. Thanksgiving
3. Finals (talk redbull, candy, and pizza)
4. My 22nd Birthday
5. Christmas--and a surprise trip to my Aunt's house where she bakes nothing BUT sweets
6. Christmas's left-over candy
Yuuuuup, Fall is something else I can tell you that right now. I've been traveling too since school has gotten off, with little access to a gym and little motivation given that finals sucked pretty much out all the energy I thought I had. But I'm back in Boston and am conveniently located to a Equinox...if that's not a sign I don't know what it. It's my goal to jump start the New Year with melting off all those sweet indulgences, tastes, and licks. They add up you know.
There's this new craze called Cross Fit that involves challenging your body everyday with a new workout. It pinpoints each muscle group and tests your cardiovascular health as well. Sound intense? I think so. Have you seen these men and women who do it, they're ripped! What it comes with is a life lesson though, by constantly changing up your routine and testing your abilities, your strengthening your cognitive ability as well. The focus and growing determination helps use these motivators in other aspects of your life. That chocolate icing that's staring you in the face, you can finally say no to. Or at least that's my goal but January 30, 2012! My goal is not only to achieve the body I'm looking for, but most importantly change my ATTITUDE about my body, even if it's only one pound down from what I am now. Exercise is about maintaining if not improving your OWN health, not maintaining or improving other's and other's perception of what you look like and how you feel.
Going to the gym today for the first time in two weeks (OK OK three weeks) and even though I anticipate it will be difficult, hard, and maybe even unenjoyable, I know that when I come out of the Equinox doors later this afternoon, I'll be feeling stronger and happier than I did walking in. Wish me luck and I'll be sure to report back on what exercises I did and for how long. All I'm thinking about now is a Tall Non-Fat Vanilla Latte from Starbucks for a post-workout treat :)
